Day 1 - Kochi

On arrival at Kochi airport, you will be met by the representative and the transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure.

Kochi is known as the queen of the Arabian sea. It is a sea port city that is a blend of cultures that has evolved over time with the influence of explores and traders.

Day 2 - Kochi

After breakfast, you will enjoy sightseeing tour of kochi.

Kochi was an obscure fishing village that became the first European township in India. The town was shaped by the Portuguese, the Dutch and later the British. The results of these cultural influences are seen in the many examples of Indo European architecture that still exist here. Some of the well known tourist attractions in Kochi are....

The Old Fort, Kochi / Cochin: Vasco da Gama, whose arrival in Kerala about 500 years ago opened up a new era of trade between India and Europe, died in Fort Kochi on Christmas eve in 1524. The house where he died is a huge Portuguese-style mansion on Rose Street, which stands close to the St. Francis Church, the first European church in India. In accordance with his last wishes, da Gama\'s remains were unearthed and send to Lisbon, Portugal, and reburied there in 1538.

Chinese Fishing Nets/Vasco da Gama Square: These huge cantilevered fishing nets are the legacy of one of the first visitors to the Malabar Coast. Erected here between 1350 and 1450 AD by traders from the court of Kublai Khan, these nets are set up on teak wood and bamboo poles.

Pierce Leslie Bungalow: This charming mansion was the office of Pierce Leslie & Co., coffee merchants, founded in 1862. Old Harbour House: This elegant old bungalow built in 1808 is in the possession of Carrit Moran & Co., renowned tea brokers, who now use it as their residence.

St. Francis Church: Built in 1503 by Portuguese Franciscan friars, this is India\'s oldest European church. This was initially built of timber and later reconstructed in stone masonry.

Santa Cruz Basilica: This historic church was built by the Portuguese and elevated to a Cathedral by Pope Paul IV in 1558.

Day 3 - Kochi / Munnar

After breakfast drive on to Munnar. This beautiful hill station was once the summer capital of the British Government in India. The never ending vast expanse of tea plantations and the round the year moderate climate makes it a little haven for visitors. It is popular for its cool climate and tea plantation. This quiet little town boasts of many colonial bungalows,tea factories,wildlife sanctuaries and many lakes. Sprawling tea plantations,picture book towns,winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular hill station in south india.Munnar is also known as the Kashmir of South India. The day at leisure to enjoy your environs.

Day 4 - Munnar / Periyar (120 kms/ 3 ½ hrs)
This morning drive on to Thekkady. Proceed for a spice plantation tour and by evening at Periyar lake around which the sanctuary is built, for boating. This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing wild life at close quarters from the safety of a boat.

Day 5 - Periyar / Kumarakom

Drive to Kumarakom. By 12 noon check in at the backwater resort in Kumarakom. Afternoon at leisure. An enchanting backwater destination, Kumarakom offers visitors many leisure options like - boating and fishing. The beauty of nature amidst spectacular mangrove forests, coconut canopies, enchanting waterways and canals decked with wild lilies, adds to the beauty of its surroundings. Kumarakom is the place for people looking for a lazy and laid back holiday.

Day 6 - Kumarakom

After breakfast, day at the leisure to explore the backwaters and surrounding areas.

The major tourist attraction in Kumarakom is the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a world famous bird sanctuary. This sanctuary is an ornithologist’s paradise. Some migratory birds migrate during the winter from across the world including the Siberian stork. The other tourist attractions in Kumarakom are Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls, Pathiramanal, Erumely, Aranmula, Vagamon, Elaveezha Poonchira and Vaikom.

Day 7 - Kumarakom to Alleppey

By noon check in at thehouse boat in Kumarakom for a 22 hour house boating through the legendary backwaters of Kerala, to Alleppey. On the way you will witness a full range of life and activities and some mind boggling sceneries. Overnight in the house boat. House boat is a private boat with fully furnished spacious bed rooms with attached bath, private balcony, dining room, hygienic kitchen and side decks to capture the beauty of the back waters.

Day 8 - Alleppey to Kochi
Get down from the houseboat and proceed to Kochi for a bit of shopping. Afternoon to the Kochi airport/ railway station for onward destination.
